Choosing a Fiber Laser Cutting Machine Supplier for a German Project

By the STR team · June 7, 2026

Buying a laser cutting machine for a German production site requires a proposal that matches the work, installation conditions and documentation requirements. A supplier list is only a starting point: company location alone does not establish the suitability of a particular machine.

Publisher disclosure: This guide is published by Jinan STR Equipment Co., Ltd, supplier of LSENTR industrial laser equipment in China. STR has a commercial interest in supplying machines. This is a procurement guide, not an independent ranking or endorsement of suppliers. Inquiries through this website go to STR. Reviewed 16 October 2026.

Start with a production brief

Use the same brief when asking suppliers for proposals. Include the material grade, routine and maximum thickness, sheet dimensions or tube profiles, representative drawings, expected quantities and required part quality. For tubes, add stock length, weight, section range and loading requirements.

Distinguish between an occasional thick part and the work that will run every day. Ask each supplier to explain which configuration it recommends and the conditions under which that recommendation applies.

Compare machine proposals on the same basis

  • Machine and configuration: Identify the exact model, working area, laser package, motion configuration, cutting head, controller and included options.
  • Material handling: Review table arrangements, loading, unloading, stock support and the space needed around the installed system.
  • Utilities and installation: Confirm electrical supply, assist-gas requirements, extraction, foundations or floor requirements and responsibility for installation.
  • Software and operation: Confirm the included software, licences, supported workflow, training and any recurring charges.
  • Delivery and service: Record the delivery basis, schedule assumptions, acceptance process, warranty coverage, exclusions, spare parts and agreed support arrangements.

Request a representative sample test

Send the same drawing and material specification to the shortlisted suppliers. Ask for the tested machine configuration, laser power, assist gas, material grade and thickness, sample photographs and the basis for any reported cycle time. Agree the relevant edge, dimensional or subsequent-processing requirements before comparing results.

A maximum-thickness table without test conditions is insufficient to establish routine production performance. If sample data come from a different model or power package, ask the supplier to explain the difference.

Review documentation for the actual machine

Ask for the documents applicable to the machine and configuration being offered, including the relevant declaration, instructions, identification details and supporting information. Check that the manufacturer, model, scope and dates match the proposal. A company registration, component logo or unrelated product certificate does not establish the status of the complete machine.

For a project in the EU, use the European Commission’s CE marking information as an official starting point and have the applicable requirements reviewed for the project. This guide does not replace that assessment.

If FDA documents are also presented, note that submitting a radiation-emitting product report or receiving an accession number is not the same as FDA approval. The FDA’s official reporting FAQ explains this distinction. For a claimed UL certification, request the relevant file and model scope and check the UL certification database.

Make service responsibilities concrete

Ask who will perform commissioning and training, which languages are supported, how remote diagnosis is arranged and which onsite services are actually included for the destination. A supplier’s global sales activity is not evidence of a local office or a local service team.

Compare written proposals using the same scope. A lower machine price may cover a different configuration, installation responsibility or service package. Record the differences before making a purchasing decision.

Discuss a configuration with STR

STR supplies sheet and tube fiber laser cutting equipment, including open-platform sheet cutting, enclosed and exchange-table configurations and tube cutting systems. Send a production brief through the STR contact page to discuss configuration, sample cutting, documentation and delivery/service scope for your project. The recipient is STR, not another manufacturer.

Discuss your cutting application with STR

Share your material, workpiece dimensions and production requirements. STR can discuss the proposed configuration, sample testing and relevant machine documents.
